The Hatton Locks were built in the 1930s on the Grand Union Canal, north-west of Warwick. It has a series of 21 lock-gates, which take the canal down a drop of 146 feet over a distance of 2 miles. The spire of St Mary's Church of Warwick is seen 3 miles away in alignment with the locks.
